What is Microdermabrasion?
A process that can exfoliate the skin using various strengths and abrasiveness, polish, and increase lymphatic drainage. The top layer of the skin is abraded using gentle vacuum and a diamond coated head. It is most commonly used on the face, however can be used elsewhere as needed.

Microdermabrasion can be used on dry sensitive skins right through to oily and congested skins.
What is involved in a Microdermabrasion treatment?
Firstly your face is thoroughly cleansed. The microdermabrasion head is then systematically passed over the face tailored to your skin concerns.

Particular cosmedical grade products are applied to your skin after the procedure has been completed, again tailored to treat your skins concern.

This treatment may be customised to included:

  • Blackhead extraction
  • AHA or enzyme peel
  • RED light therapy for healing
  • BLUE light therapy for the treatment of acne
  • INFRARED for healing
  • Hyaluronic acid hydrating mask
What to expect after treatment
After microdermabrasion, your skin may appear to have a pink-red glow due to increased circulation. This usually persists for a short time only depending on degree of abrasion used, and you will notice that your skin feels soft and smooth afterwards.

Mild flaking is common in the first few days after early treatments but is uncommon once the skin is in better condition.
How many treatments are needed?
Treatments can be done as often as weekly.

Depending on the concern, a course of 4 microdermabrasion’s are recommended weekly to fortnightly for your first course and then monthly for maintenance.

Ultimately, the number and frequency of microdermabrasion will depend on the skin type of the patient was well as their needs.
